The film, a reflection on Romania’s present, is set in a Transylvanian village with Romanian, Hungarian and even German communities.
A few days before Christmas, Matthias leaves his job in Germany to go back to his multi-ethnic village in Transylvania. He would like to take more responsibility for his son’s education. Rudi, his son, has been left far too long in the care of his mother Ana. Matthias would like to help the boy overcome his fears that have made him unable to speak. He is also concerned about his old father Otto and he is also looking forward to meeting his former lover Csilla. When several new workers are employed in the small factory run by Csilla, the peace and quiet in the community is shattered. Deeply rooted fears take over the residents’ lives, now rife with conflicts and arguments.
